Google Nexus 2016 Sailfish vs. Nexus 5X: Comparison of Specifications, Features, Price
Rumors are rife that HTC is working on two Nexus 2016 smartphones that are codenamed as Marlin (M1) and Sailfish (S1). The rumored specifications of the Sailfish (S1) smartphone indicates that it will arrive as a successor for Google Nexus 5X from 2015 whereas the Marlin (M1) will be a flagship smartphone. Here is a comparison of the specifications and features between the Nexus 2016 Sailfish and the Nexus 5X.
Display, Chipset, RAM and Storage
The Nexus 5X has a 5.2-inch display that carries support for full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Android Police has revealed that the Google Nexus 2016 Sailfish will be coming with a 5-inch full HD screen.
The Snapdragon 808 chipset that features a 64-bit hexa-core processor that clocks at 1.84 GHz along with 2 GB of RAM powers the LG Nexus 5X. It is available in two storage sizes of 16 GB and 32 GB. Its successor is pegged to feature a faster 64-bit quad-core processor of 2.0 GHz. The manufacturer of the chipset is not known yet.
The chipset of the HTC Nexus 2016 Sailfish will be coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It is expected to arrive with a base model of 32 GB. It may be available in multiple storage options.
Camera, Software and Other Features
The Nexus 5X has a 12.3-megapixel camera and a frontal shooter of 5-megapixel. Its successor is rumored to house a 12-megapixel camera and a front-facing snapper of 5-megapixel.
The Nexus 5X came preinstalled with Android Marshmallow OS and it will soon receive Android N when it is official available. The Nexus 2016 Sailfish is heavily rumored to arrive preloaded with Android N.
The Nexus 5X has dual speakers on its front panel, but one of them is available for audio output and the other one is available as an earpiece. The HTC Nexus 2016 Sailfish seems to house speakers on its bottom side. However, there is no confirmation whether it will be coming with dual speakers. Other features of the Nexus 5X successor include Bluetooth 4.2 and 3.5 mm audio jack on its top side.
Battery and Price
The LG Nexus 5X has a 2,700 mAh battery. Its successor is pegged to be equipped with a slightly larger battery of 2,770 mAh capacity. Like the Nexus 5X, the Nexus 2016 Sailfish will be coming with a rear-facing fingerprint reader.
The 16 GB and 32 GB Nexus 5X models were launched with respective pricing of $379 and $429. Speculations indicate the Nexus 2016 Sailfish will cost around $399 for the base model.
