Google Pixel 4 Tip: How To Get Better Battery Life
The Google Pixel 4 smartphone offers a lot of features but currently suffers with poor battery life. Google has yet to fix this issue with a software update. Fortunately, disabling some of its features can help improve the battery life of the device.
Disable Always-On Display feature
The Always-On display keeps the Google Pixel 4’s screen busy as it always has to show notifications and the clock when idle. However, it’s possible to turn this feature off to allot the idle time to not showing anything and save some battery.
To disable the Always-On display, go to the Settings app and choose Display options. The Lock Screen Display option will be inside there and can be turned off from being an Always-On feature.
No Smooth Display
The Pixel 4’s Smooth display feature boosts the display’s refresh rate which leads to crisper images on the screen. However, this feature also ramps up the battery use of the device.
This feature’s off switch is also located under the Display settings and the Smooth Display tab. Turning the feature off will use a 60Hz refresh rate which is friendlier for the battery.
Opt For Regular Wallpapers
The Pixel 4’s live action wallpapers are great on the Pixel 4’s screen but also use much more battery. To prevent this from happening, opt for a regular, static image as a wallpaper instead.
Dark Theme
The Android 10 update has a dark theme support which shows most of the smartphone’s menus in a darker color. Due to its darker color, the smartphone uses less energy to light up the screen and saving battery power in the process.
The Dark Mode feature can be found in the Display options in the Settings app. Just swipe the slider to On to enable feature.
Motion Sense
The Pixel 4 also has a feature which allows it to recognize hand gestures and open an app or feature with that gesture. Like the other previous features, this one also consumes a lot of battery life.
Disabling the motion sense feature can be found in the Settings app under the System menu. The Motion Sense feature can be turned off. After that, the Pixel 4’s hand gesture features won’t work anymore but saves some battery for the device.
