Mr. Freeze
Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) was teased in a chilling, new promo video for Fox's "Gotham." The character's story will be told when the series returns in 2016. Fox

"Game of Thrones" isn't the only show on TV where winter is coming. Famous Batman villain Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) made his debut at the end of the midseason finale on Fox's Batman prequel series "Gotham," and it appears he'll be looking to put the city in a new ice age in the second half of Season 2.

The series' latest promo video teases that "The freeze is coming" to Gotham City and shows buildings across the city, including Arkham Asylum, being frozen. Mr. Freeze is never shown in the video, but it certainly builds anticipation for the show's return in 2016. You can watch the full promo below:

Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze was first shown using his freeze gun on a man in the final seconds of episode 11, but his full story will begin to unfold when episode 12 airs in February 2016. Fries is a cryogenics engineer at Wayne Enterprises, who is trying to save his wife Nora (Kristen Hager), who has a terminal illness.

In an interview with USA Today, Darrow said the "Gotham" version of Freeze will be similar to the way other villains have been portrayed on the show and most likely won't be the same version in the "Batman & Robin" film. He added that the series is going to show Mr. Freeze "doing some things we have never seen him do."

"I find the character to be like a lot of the characters on the show," Darrow dished. "What becomes interesting is this 'villainy' is really something that is revealed out of a person in some particular circumstances with a particular history and what they care about combined with their own level of fear about being alive and being in the rather difficult world of Gotham."

Aside from the Freeze story unfolding, another villain will likely play a major role in the second half of Season 2. Professor Hugo Strange (BD Wong) was mentioned in the midseason finale because he has "big plans" with Theo Galavan's (James Frain) body, but has yet to appear. Strange is the man running Arkham Asylum, who is also secretly the man behind the experiments at the Indian Hill facility. Fox told ComicBook.com that Strange "harbors a dark secret" and will eventually become "Gotham's greatest threat."

"Gotham" Season 2 returns to Fox on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 at 8 p.m. EST.
