Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell) desperately wants to kill Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith), but he will not do so this Season 3. Fox

Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell) and Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) really want to get revenge on Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) after he tortured them and severed Tabitha’s hand, mistakenly thinking they had something to do with the death of Isabella (Chelsea Spack).

However, Powell told SyFy Wire that they won’t be making revenge plans in “Gotham” Season 3, even though Nygma will be embracing his persona as the Riddler when the show returns this April. When asked why, Powell answered that the timing is off.

“Now’s not the right time. There’s this kind of epic battle that’s going to be set up that I can’t tell you anything more than that. But it’s about aligning yourself and biding your time,” Powell said of Butch and Tabitha’s evil plan.

Meanwhile, David Mazouz, the actor who plays the young Bruce Wayne in the show, told the Comic Book Resources that his character will deal heavily with the Court of Owls this season. On the flip side, he got to film less scenes with Ben McKenzie, the actor who plays Jim Gordon.

Mazouz said Bruce really looks up to Gordon, but unfortunately, Gordon will fall short. “Bruce believes Jim can be the man who can save Gotham, who can be the man who can restore it to its original beauty. The relationship is so important because eventually Bruce will realize that Jim fails because he’s a man. He’s not a symbol. Gotham needs a symbol. Gotham needs the Bat,” he said. “That’s why that relationship is so important. Bruce wants Jim to succeed, but, eventually, he doesn’t. Bruce needs to then take it upon himself.”

Given this statement, does this mean Bruce will soon transition into the Batman? According to Sean Pertwee, who plays Bruce’s butler Alfred Pennyworth, the city is going to take a nosedive first and force Bruce to become the Batman. “For the super villains to exist, Gotham has to reach the bottom of the barrel. So phoenix rises from the ashes. Gotham is going to get to a really bad place,” he told The Arts Guild.

“Gotham” Season 3, episode 15, titled “How the Riddler Got His Name,” will return on April 24.
