Will Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) and Barbara Kean’s (Erin Richards) friendship be put to the test in “Gotham” Season 3? Fox

Ed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) did a disservice to Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell) and Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas) when he kidnapped them and cut off Tabitha’s hand in “Gotham” Season 3, since he mistakenly thought that they had something to do with Isabella’s (Chelsea Spack) death.

But despite this horrific act, Tabitha’s friend Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) still sided with Nygma. It’s clear Butch and Tabitha aren’t pleased with this, but will they end up betraying Barbara because of it?

When Powell and Lucas talked to Comic Book Resources about it, the two refused to give a straight answer, but they hinted that the thought of betrayal does cross their minds.

“For Butch, it’s about Tabitha. He’s head over heels in love with this girl, for better or for worse, and he’s trying to convince her that Barbara’s no good for her, Barbara doesn’t care about her, and that Barbara doesn’t deserve her loyalty,” said Powell. “So it’ll be this evolution of him trying to explain that to her. Hopefully for her sake, she figures it out before it’s too late.”

As for Lucas, she said Tabitha’s still furious at Nygma for cutting off her hand. The more Barbara solidifies her alliance with Nygma, the more frustrated Tabitha will be. “You’re going to see her really pushed, and really, really upset, and that’s going to keep growing and growing, and the tension between her and Barbara is going to keep growing and growing, and eventually will have to play out in some way, come to a head in some way,” she teased.

Lucas added that Tabitha won’t plan to destroy Barbara to get to the top spot of Gotham City’s underworld, but by the end of the season, she’ll be in a “really vulnerable place” and find herself needing a new alliance.

Was Lucas hinting about the Gotham City Sirens? The actress earlier told Heroic Hollywood that she would love to see her character team up with other villains such as Harley Quinn, Selina Kyle (Carmen Bicondova) and Poison Ivy (Maggie Geha) next season. However, Lucas admitted that “Gotham” still hasn’t formulated the plan to introduce this formidable girl group.

“Oh, I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think that is the plan. I love that they started it out in an unexpected way with Barbara and Tabitha because neither one of those characters are part of the [Gotham City] Sirens in the comic books,” she said. “But I think there is room for growth, there is room for new members and I think it would be great to have some sort of girl gang going on next season. So I hope so, but I’m not sure yet!”

Meanwhile, Bicondova echoed Lucas’ statements. Like her co-star, Bicondova isn’t sure whether the Gotham City Sirens will be formed next season. “We haven’t really dived into that yet as of right now. I think that eventually it will happen,” she said.

“Gotham” airs every Monday at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
