‘Gotham’ Season 4 Spoilers: Crystal Reed Dishes On Her Role As Sofia Falcone
Who is Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed)? This “Gotham” newbie has already gotten fans of the Fox show abuzz, but nobody knows what she’s going to be like when Season 4 returns.
Sofia is going to help Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) as he takes down the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and his crime syndicate, and she is also rumoured to be his newest love interest. When Men’s Fitness tried to press Reed for further details about her character, the actress only teased that Sofia has some “confusing character traits.”
Does this mean she teeters between being good and bad? Is Sofia going to toy with Jim’s feelings? Is she seeking revenge for the death of her brother, Mario? For now, all fans can do is wait to have these questions answered.
Meanwhile, executive producer John Stephens has more to say about Sofia during an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly. He said that her relationship with Jim is going to be pretty pivotal in Season 4. “We’re going to see Jim make, in some ways, big steps toward I guess what you would call the commissionership,” Stephens said. “But also we’re going to see Jim, in his quest to save the city, cross different ethical lines than he ever did before. It’s going to bring him to an ethical nadir that we haven’t seen him at, and it’s going to be told through the context of a relationship that he has with Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Don Falcone, who’s played by Crystal Reed this year. And that’s going to be a really compelling and interesting relationship.”
As for McKenzie, he said that Gordon is left with no choice but to rely on Sofia because there’s “an awful lot going on” and the Penguin has become more powerful than ever. “He’s licensing crimes. He’s basically usurped the law completely and controls what crime is permitted in Gotham. Against that tide, Jim is left alone. No one is on his side including Harvey,” he explained to Fansided.
“Gotham” Season 4 will be released by Fox on Sept. 21.
