‘Great News’ Sneak Peek: Carol Surprises Katie At An Awards Show
Carol finds a way to attend the American Journalism Awards in this week’s episode of “Great News.”
In a new sneak peek from Season 2, episode 4 of the NBC series, Katie arrives at the awards ceremony thinking that her mom Carol (Andrea Martin) is at home.
“This is such a magical night,” Katie says upon entering the venue. “All my heroes are here. And since I got nominated, they all gonna know my name.”
Unfortunately, that isn’t going to be case because Portia (Nicole Richie) finds out from the event’s program that Katie’s name is listed incorrectly. Although that saddens Katie a little bit, Greg (Adam Campbell) tells her that she can still enjoy the night especially that her mom isn’t around.
“At least you don’t have to worry about your mother ruining the night,” Greg tells Katie.
But right after Katie assures her colleagues that her mom is just fine not attending the awards show, Carol suddenly pops up from nowhere.
“Surprise!” the MMN intern says, before revealing what she’s doing at the event. “I got hired as a seat filler. They don’t want empty seats during the broadcast so when the famous people get up, they hired people like me because we have bodies. Isn’t that great!?”
Well, not for Katie, as she ends up babysitting her mom all night. Apparently, Carol’s presence at the event isn’t the only thing that troubles Katie during the night. According to the synopsis for the episode, Katie also gets distracted by Jeremy (Reid Scott), a handsome New York Times reporter who looks down on cable news.
As previously reported by Entertainment Weekly, Katie and Jeremy have a history. The two has reportedly formed a connection with each other while covering a dangerous story together.
Elsewhere in the upcoming episode, Chuck (John Michael Higgins) is excited to reunite with all of his old anchormen friends especially Len Archer (Christopher McDonald), an idol of Chuck's who is receiving a lifetime achievement award.
“Great News” Season 2, episode 4, titled “Award Show,” airs on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 9:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
