‘Great News’ Sneak Peeks: Katie Tries To Up Her Cool Factor

Katie needs Portia’s help to up her cool factor in this week’s episode of “Great News.”

In a sneak peek from Season 2, episode 5 of the NBC series, Katie (Briga Heelan) realizes that Portia (Nicole Richie) can help her get into the hip New York City lifestyle, so she asks the news anchor if she can tag along with any of her after-work plans.

“Hey, Portia, have any fun New York plans tonight?” Katie asks.

“Not really,” Portia replies. “[But] I have a dinner in a pop-up sushi bar on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Then at 3 a.m., I’m dj’ing at Club Foot, and after that I’ll probably go out.”

“That’s exactly the type of thing that I should be doing,” the “Breakdown” senior associate executive producer says. “Can I come with ease?”

Although Portia is clearly wondering why Katie suddenly becomes interested in the things she does, Portia tells her that she can come with her.

While it’s unclear how the night out went, Katie asks another favor from Portia the morning after.

“I need to go to that Halloween party with you,” Katie tells Portia in another sneak peek from the episode.

But Portia doesn’t think it’s a good idea. “This party is not for you, Katie,” Portia says. “You have to have an expensive one of a kind costume.”

When Katie promises that her costume is gonna be just as good as what Portia’s currently wearing, Portia reveals that her fortune teller getup isn’t her complete costume.

“This is my costume,” Portia says, while inside of a giant magic crystal ball that goes with her attire. “Katie, you’re trying to have a life that does not belong to you … Turn back, before it’s too late.”

Funnily enough, Portia quickly changes her mind when Katie reveals that she wants to go to the party so they can take a selfie together.

According to the synopsis for the episode, Katie lucks into going to the Halloween party with Portia in an attempt to impress her old friends on Instagram who have been getting married, having kids, and buying houses in New Jersey.

Elsewhere in the episode, Chuck (John Michael Higgins) has been asked to use a new smart screen on “The Breakdown.” But in an attempt to get out of this seemingly impossible task, Chuck tries to convince Carol (Andrea Martin) that it is possessed.

“Great News” Season 2, episode 5, titled “Night of the Living Screen,” airs on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 9:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
