Katie and the rest of “The Breakdown” team won’t be back for a new episode of “Great News” until early January next year.

According to Deadline, Season 2, episode 7 of the NBC comedy will air on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at 9:30 p.m. EST.

Plot details about the next episode are being kept under wraps, but it will probably continue exploring Katie’s (Briga Heelan) new romance with Jeremy (Reid Scott), who ended up kissing the MMN producer after a successful stakeout at the end of Season 2, episode 6.

Katie met Jeremy for the first time at the American Journalism Awards in Season 2, episode 4. Although Jeremy looked down at Katie for working in cable news during their first meeting, the handsome New York Times reporter developed feelings for her when he invited her to do some “real reporting” with him.

“Over the course of a couple episodes, they get close and start dating,” series creator Tracey Wigfield told Variety of Katie and Jeremy last September.

As seen in the last episode, Greg (Adam Campbell) was devastated when he saw Katie and Jeremy kissing. While Katie is clearly into Jeremy, Wigfield said that Katie and Greg shippers have nothing to worry about. “The Katie-Greg stuff is definitely in the background,” Wigfield told Entertainment Weekly last August. “Hopefully it will come to a head in some exciting way towards the later part of the season.”

Tina Fey, who guest starred as Diana St. Tropez in the first three episodes of the season, is also expected to return in the second half of the season. During an Oct. 30 appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” series star Andrea Martin revealed that Fey is reprising her role for another episode later in the season.

No details have been released yet about Fey’s comeback episode, but the Golden Globe winner — who also executive produces the series — previously hinted that Diana’s return would be on better terms. “When she first gets there she thinks it’s kind of behind-the-times, but by the time she leaves later in the season, she’s very impressed with the staff as a group of human beings and how they relate to each other,” Fey told TV Insider last September.
