Antonis Samaras has been sworn in as Greece’s new prime minister, three days after his conservative pro-bailout New Democracy Party won a national election.

The ND chief’s ceremony came shortly after he formed a coalition government with the Socialist Pasok party and the smaller left-wing Democratic Left.

After taking an oath at a Greek Orthodox ceremony in Athens, Samaras declared to reporters: [We will] work hard so we can give hope to our people.”

Samaras will reportedly fill in his cabinet later on Wednesday.
