‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Stars Jesse Williams And Ellen Pompeo Snap Vacation Photos As Firing Petition Drama Continues
It’s nothing but blue skies and crystal clear waters for Jesse Williams — even if the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor is in the middle of a stormy scandal.
As a petition calling for Williams to get booted from the hit ABC series gains signatures, the 34-year-old actor, who portrays Dr. Jackson Avery on the Shonda Rhimes medical drama, is spending his days soaking up the sun with his co-star Ellen Pompeo. Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on the long running series, documented her Hawaiian adventure with Williams, proving that not even a petition could spoil their holiday.
The two TV stars snapped a photo together of them floating in the water off the island of Maui. “When you vacation with @ijessewilliams and he’s afraid to lose to you in a paddle board race,” Pompeo captioned the image of duo splashing around.
Shortly after, the actress followed up with another Instagram update. But this time, Pompeo posted a video of Williams pushing her paddleboard out beneath her feet, causing the actress to fall into the turquoise water.
“When you talk to much smack to @ijessewilliams,” Pompeo quipped as Williams playfully stuck out his tongue.
Pompeo and Williams’ friend-cation comes shortly after a petition was created on Change.org to have the actor fired from the medical drama. A “longtime, loyal viewer” of the show felt that Williams, who had been awarded a humanitarian award at the BET awards in June, had “spewed a racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people” and was hoping to gain enough signatures to have the actor fired. The petition has since reached over 18,000 signatures.
Rhimes, who had commended Williams’ BET speech about the struggle of African-American’s and equality via Twitter, took to the social media outlet to share her feelings on the petition Tuesday.
“Grey’s Anatomy” Season 13 premieres on ABC in the fall.
