'Guardians Of The Galaxy 3': Mark Hamill Not Cast, Director Confirms
Mark Hamill will not be cast in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” The “Star Wars” actor is a friend of James Gunn, but the director has confirmed that he hasn’t spoken about casting Hamill in his upcoming film.
During a recent Q&A with the fans on Instagram, Gunn confirmed that he hasn’t spoke with Hamill about being a part of his upcoming film, Screen Rant reported. Gunn has written the script, and the pre-production work has reportedly started on the movie, which means casting announcements should be made in the coming weeks.
“Mark is my friend. We have never had these talks you speak of,” Gunn told the fan who asked about the director’s discussions with the actor about casting him in the upcoming film. Hamill has shown interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it remains to be seen what role he will get to play and in which movie he will be introduced.
There was a lot of speculation among the fans about Hamill joining “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” after he met with Gunn for a cup of coffee in May last year, Entertainment Weekly reported. The two celebrities live nearby, and they agreed to meet after talking about it on social media. They both talked about the meeting online later, but there was no confirmation about a Marvel role for the veteran actor.
Hamill had previously expressed his interest in joining Gunn’s next movie while speaking at the 2018 Saturn Awards, Collider reported. After the meeting, the actor said that he didn’t want to “strong arm” the director into giving him a role.
Production is yet to begin for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” The film is set to premiere some time in 2021, but Marvel hasn’t announced an exact release date yet.
