‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’ Spoilers: Ego The Living Planet Doesn’t Look Much Like A Planet
We’re still a few months away from the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” but we now have our first look at Kurt Russell’s character, Ego.
In comics, Ego is known as Ego the Living Planet and is portrayed as an actual planet but in the upcoming James Gunn-directed sequel, the character will be less planet-like and more human.
Fans already caught a glimpse of Ego’s wardrobe over the summer during San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) but thanks to new figures from Funko’s Pop! And Dorbz lines, we see how Russell looks as the character.
Ego sports the same outfit seen at SDCC including boots and a cape and also has a beard. Following the SDCC reveal, Gunn revealed his excitement for Russell portraying the character. “I can’t wait for you guys to see Kurt Russell bring this character to life onscreen,” he wrote on Facebook.
“It has been a rapturous experience creating Ego with him. We both have pushed ourselves as far as we can go in making him real, and grounded, and emotionally centered,” Gunn continued.
During an August Q&A on Facebook, Gunn hinted that the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series could end after the second film. When asked about another sequel, Gunn replied, “There are no real plans, and I haven’t made up my mind yet what I’m doing next.”
Gunn also ruled out working on another Marvel film he didn’t make a “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” sequel. When asked if he would work on other Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, Gunn said, “Probably not, no. I’m not sure what’s going on next, but if I choose to stay in the MCU, I’d be playing solely with cosmic characters related to the Guardians-verse.”
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel and opens in theaters on May 5.
