Gwen Stefani and her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, sent their son, Zuma, sweet messages for his 12th birthday on social media.
On Friday, the No Doubt singer shared photos of her little mini-me Zuma on Instagram Story, describing them as "twins" in one snap of them together. She also posted several pictures of Zuma from his toddler years on her Instagram page.
"happy birthday to my ZUMA i can’t believe u r 12 years old today!! we love u sooooooo much!! gx," Stefani wrote in the caption.
Zuma's dad and Stefani's ex-husband also marked his son's birthday with a sweet tribute on Instagram, letting his son know how much he loves him in a message.
"ZUMA NESTA ROCK ROSSDALE - 12 years old today - greatest guy i know," Rossdale wrote, adding, "I love every minute with you - what a gift you are - here’s to you -a new year - full of all possibilities - thanks for making my life infinitely better with your presence - you are the future- the kids are the future - let’s do our best by them - always reaching for a better world - love you zuma."
In April, Rossdale opened up about the challenges of co-parenting for divorced parents during the coronavirus lockdown. At the time, Stefani and their three sons, Kingston, Zuma and Apollo, were with her boyfriend Blake Shelton in his Oklahoma home.
"I did the first two weeks with them, then they went to Oklahoma," Rossdale said in an interview on SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation."
"I know who’s around me — no one is," the Bush vocalist continued. "And I know who’s bringing me the coronavirus — no one is. But you send your kids out to someone else, and they come back to you and now you’re prone to whoever they’re with. It’s a tricky one for all divorced parents."
Meanwhile, Shelton also recently spoke about becoming a father figure to Stefani's children during a July interview with the "Today" show. Talking about his girlfriend's Father’s Day message for him, Shelton confessed that the post was a "scary moment" because it forced him to reflect on his role in Stefani’s sons’ lives.
"It’s one thing to be with the kids all the time and be their buddy, but you do have to consider after a while that they start to listen to things that you say," Shelton said. "There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that which is new to me."
