Enjoying games like "Half-Life: Alyx" should be interesting at this time with most left with nothing much to do at home. The console versions are likely to keep most happy but it appears Valve did something even before the coronavirus pandemic got out of hand. And the result of this is seeing millions enjoying "Half-Life: Alyx" via virtual reality.
Reports are flying in that Valve was able to hit it well when they released the major update to the flagship series. Such has garnered great reviews and such has translated in skyrocketing sales for both the "Half-Life: Alyx" game and the VR headsets, Game Rant reported. Considering it was not too long ago that Valve had an alleged shortage of Index headsets. But it appears the shift to Valve's data on Steam users has altered the course. Now millions are enjoying the game using Steam VR.
The big jump in users and sales was reported for March, ironically an uncanny time with the COVID-19 outbreak. And it appears the sudden spike in growth is now the best for Steam VR ever. There is reportedly 1.91 percent of users now connecting to Steam VR using their virtual reality headsets, clearly signaling that Valve has successfully made the jump in adapting to new technology, Road to VR reported. Other game titles have tried in the past but have not gained much success.
For those who know "Half-Life" so well, most will recall how the first-shooter game was initially played on the PC. Virtual reality was not much of a fad at the time but it appears the people behind Valve have finally hit the right tune to make the game easier to play, not to mention enjoyable.
As mentioned in a previous post, "Half-Life: Alyx" was released back in March but only for the PC. It was specifically designed to raise VR awareness but had some glaring things missing such as no multi-player option.
Regardless, "Half-Life: Alyx" has garnered success, and Valve may move forward and look to improvements. For those who may not know, the game tells the of Alyx Vance and her father Eli building a resistance against Combine's alien invasion of earth. Players will take on the role of Alyx, manipulating their way with the aid of "gravity gloves."
