Happy Birthday, Kate Middleton: See Pictures Of The Duchess Of Cambridge Through The Years
The Duchess of Cambridge — also known as Kate Middleton — was set to turn 34 Saturday. The wife of Prince William, mom to two adorable kids and one day the queen, was born Jan. 9, 1982. There's been no word on whether she was throwing a party at the palace, but last year she reportedly spent the day privately at her 10-bedroom country home in Norfolk, England.
"She doesn't like a big fuss," a source told Us Weekly in 2014. That year, she had Italian food at Kensington Palace because it "was easier than going out and leaving George at home," the source said.
Middleton has had a busy 33rd year. On May 2, she gave birth to Princess Charlotte, who was christened in July. On Oct. 20, Middleton attended her first state dinner at the Buckingham Palace, and her son, Prince George, started preschool Wednesday.
Throughout this, the Duchess has proven to be a relatively well-liked monarch. According to poll site YouGov, she ranks in the 98th percentile in positivity, with 30 percent of people saying they "really liked" her as of Wednesday. She tends to be especially well-received among young women. Similarly, Elle Canada recently published a gallery describing 10 reasons they love Middleton. Among them were "she's down-to-earth," "she is a real-life fairytale princess" and "she's the epitome of class."
Middleton's 34th year will include a tour of India in the spring. They'll be headed overseas "at the request of Her Majesty’s Government and it will be the first time they have visited the country,” according to a November tweet from the palace. There are also already rumors circulating that she's carrying a third prince or princess.
