Harvey Weinstein Allegations Explored In New Documentary: How, When To Watch
Over the course of the past year, Harvey Weinstein has continued to stay in the news due to allegations regarding sexual harassment and assault. Now, a new documentary, titled "Harvey Weinstein: ID Breaking Now," is slated to take a closer look at the accounts of Weinstein's former assistant, Rowena Chiu, actress Rosanna Arquette, model Amber Gutierrez and others when it premieres on Investigation Discovery.
According to Discovery, the new true crime special will "uncover, for the first time, unknown details behind today’s most heinous crimes, beginning with Hollywood’s most hated man, Harvey Weinstein."
The hour-long episode will feature firsthand accounts from the aforementioned women, but others are also slated to tell their stories in the new ID show. Tarale Wulff and Katherine Kendall, aspiring actresses, who gave evidence in the trial, will add extra context to the story. Additionally, Seth Freedman, who once acted as Weinstein’s spy, will also reveal the various people that Weinstein had wanted to silence leading up to his recent conviction.
When speaking about the new documentary, Henry Schleiff, Group President of Investigation Discovery, Travel Channel, American Heroes Channel and Destination America, elaborated on their findings throughout the creation process.
"Weinstein was a monster, masked as a mogul, and as we developed this series which will investigate society’s most heinous criminals, he was at the top of our list," he said, adding, "Using a unique breaking news style, our team will share unseen documents, forensic evidence and heartbreaking personal accounts that further expose Weinstein’s reign of terror in Hollywood."
Over the course of the past year, allegations against Weinstein were also highlighted in Ronan Farrow's 2019 book "Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators." The project was later expanded to include an "audio companion," which elaborated on Farrow's previous reporting as a way to "provide broader context about the powerful systems that cover up sexual misconduct."
Earlier this year, Weinstein was found guilty of third-degree rape and one count of a criminal sexual act in the first degree. He was ultimately sentenced to 23 years in prison.
"Harvey Weinstein: ID Breaking Now" premieres Sunday night at 10 p.m. EDT on Investigation Discovery.
