The Florida Gators are scheduled to meet with Jim McElwain on Sunday concerning a buyout agreement. The team has asked him to accept less than his $12.76 million buyout and relinquish his head coaching position, according to reports. ESPN confirmed Sunday afternoon that Florida and McElwain were officially parting ways.

ESPN reported that Jim McElwain has not been fired, and that he, athletic director Scott Stricklin and other team officials were meeting Sunday to discuss the agreement.

The meeting comes a day after the Gators lost 42-7 to No. 3 Georgia on Saturday in Jacksonville. The Gators have lost three in a row to LSU, Texas A&M, and UGA after starting the season with a 3-1 record.

McElwain was the center of criticism this week when he claimed he and his family received death threats. After he was asked to give details on the alleged threats, he was reportedly unable to.

Rumors swirled this weekend regarding talks of potential negotiations focused on removing McElwain. On Saturday, sources told ESPN that the university had discussed whether it could fire McElwain with cause.

The organization hired McElwain in December 2014. He has a 22-12 record and won the SEC Eastern Division two seasons in a row. He became the first SEC coach to reach the championship game twice in his first two seasons.
