A Ukrainian mother was caught on camera weeping after the discovery of her son's body at the bottom of a well.
Authorities in Ukraine found the bodies of two Territorial Defense Forces members in a pit while inspecting a gasoline station, the United States government-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported.
One of them was a resident of the previously Russian-occupied village of Buzova, near Ukraine’s capital of Kyiv, according to Taras Didych, the head of the nearby Dmytrivka community.
The man's mother was able to confirm his identity, footage released by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty showed.
"Son! These are his shoes!" the parent cried while kneeling on the ground next to the well.
When the woman's son was pulled out of the pit, she attempted to cross a police line.
"Let me see, let me see!" the woman said while Ukrainian authorities moved to restrain her.
The circumstances surrounding the men's deaths were unclear, but the Russian forces were believed to be responsible for the killings.
"This is an army of marauders and murderers. There is no place for them in this world," Buzova village official Lyudmyla Zakabluk said.
"They have no right to call themselves humans. How could they kill children just like that?" Zakabluk added.
The official noted that "they" have also killed people in the Ukrainian cities of Irpin and Bucha, and the settlement of Borodyanka.
Russian forces have been accused of committing war crimes and atrocities in all three areas.
Bucha was the site of a massacre allegedly perpetrated by Russian troops that resulted in the deaths of more than 300 civilians.
Western nations vowed to impose new sanctions on Russia in response to the killings, which the country's military denied responsibility for.
Russian President Vladimir Putin even claimed images of the dead bodies scattered across Bucha were fake. Additionally, media backed by the Russian government denounced photos and videos of the massacre as an elaborate hoax.
Journalists for several news sites such as the BBC, the Associated Press and Reuters have all confirmed that the bodies and mass graves emerged in Bucha following the retreat of the Russian troops.
Ukrainian prosecutors are currently investigating nearly 5,000 alleged Russian war crimes.
