Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson has provided an exciting update on Marcus Rashford, saying the returning star looks "sharp" and will "help the team a lot."
Rashford, who is yet to play for Manchester United's first team this season, struggled with a shoulder issue throughout the last season. After the European Championships, where he made five appearances for England, the young forward decided to rectify the reoccurring injury by undergoing surgery in the summer.
The Englishman has been stepping up his fitness in recent weeks and returned to contact training before Manchester United's game against Everton, which ended in a disappointing 2-2 draw.
Rashford, who is aiming to feature in Manchester United's league game against Leicester City next week, played his first soccer match since July Wednesday. It was a friendly against Blackburn played behind closed doors, where Rashford scored a brace, giving glimpses of his much-awaited recovery.
Henderson, who grew up with Rashford at Manchester United academy, opened up on the sharpness of his teammate during their recent training sessions.
"You know what? It's funny because he looks so sharp since he's come back from his shoulder injury and everything from last season. I think he was carrying a few knocks. So for him to come back, he looks back to his best and I'm really excited to see him out there. I think he is going to help the team a lot," Henderson, who has made three appearances for the Red Devils this season, told the club's media.
Despite the irksome injury, Rashford managed to find the net 21 times for Manchester United, while he also assisted 15 goals in 57 competitive appearances for the Old Trafford side.
"I think he got obviously thrown in at a young age and didn't really get a break mentally to switch off. And I think it's given him time to do this. He will be hungrier than ever to get back out there and play again. I do honestly think, sometimes, that a break is great. It's helped me this summer and I'm sure it's helped him. I think he'll come back better than ever," Henderson added.
