There’s a special place in this world for people who decide to give others gifts on their birthday.

R&B singer and YouTuber SoMo dropped his third mixtape, “My Life III,” on Monday, which happens to be his 30th birthday. Though, coincidence it is not. Two years ago, he also dropped a mixtape on his birthday, which was his “My Life” sequel.

It’s his birthday, yet he’s giving fans the gift of new music and it’s a beautiful thing. It allows SoMo and his fans to really celebrate the day together, as well as for fans to get to know him a little bit better because each mixtape is essentially him releasing another part of himself.

This one is no different. It’s 11 songs filled with his usual smooth, cool vibe and suave lyrics and melodies that could make anyone fall in love with both his music and with him.

Take a minute to commemorate the birth of SoMo, which lead to the creation of three wonderful mixtapes, two albums that become a part of you and countless YouTube covers that’ll make you never want to listen to the originals again.

To really help celebrate the occasion, here are some of the best lyrics from each of the songs off of SoMo’s latest mixtape, his birthday present to us all.

“Heart of Gold”

“I’m just a country boy who’s found his roots. I’m a human man, and you’re human, too. I won’t judge nobody, I won’t hold no grudge. I won’t hold hate in my heart.”

“Burnin’ Out”

“Visualize what you want. Take your time, don’t you front.”

“For You”

“Tell me all the things that you’ve been through. You don’t gotta tell me too much. I just wanna know what you’re into. Tell me baby, is it so wrong?”

“Reservations”

“I like things when I sit in control. I’m your kind, be the queen on my throne. Girl you know you don’t need reservations. You can come here any time.” (Fun fact: SoMo has a song called “Control” on his “The Answers” album.)

“I hold out my hand now. Hold out your hand please. Love me, oh baby.”

“Friends”

“I read my bible, respect thy rival. You want it, then work it, you’re not entitled. I made my mind up, don’t waste my time up. You want it, then work it, don’t mess my grind up.”

“Dial”

“No stressin’ you, I drown the ugly thoughts beneath the whiskey drops. I saw your crew, nothing to prove, I’m not the one that’s lost.”

“It’s borderline obsessive messin’ with my head like this. I told you that when I left Texas, I’d do things the way I set them. Why can’t I have any lessons that don’t end like this?”

“White Light”

“But I ain’t coming home tonight, you know I’ve been hopping flight to flight, landing different places, I cant take it, no.”

“I know you’ve been patient, you’ve been waiting so long. Say you want this life out loud. Say you want this life out loud.”

“Lines”

“In your eyes, I’ve seen the sky, I’ve seen it all. When you told me, you had lost it, I saw you fall.”

“Some people give up, some people hold out, some people search all their lives for what we found. So don’t you go runnin’ on with doubt, not now. Don’t throw it down.”

“Hideaway, Pt. 1”

“You said that you wouldn’t go, then you hideaway, I feel the pulse, feel the passion.”

“Save a life, let me make you feel alive.”

“Contraband”

“Put you in action, this ain’t for satisfaction. I am not an actor, and you are not an actress, so don’t you go pretend that you love me, don’t pretend that you don’t want it.”

“I’m feeling like a survivor, spark in my heart like a lighter, squeeze me we could be tighter, promise I wont get tired, I’m wired for you. You’re a bad girl, but I like it. Came off-time, but I swear you’re timeless.” (Fun fact: He has a song called “Red Lighter” on his debut album.)

“Oh No”

“Having fun with me is rare. If I love you, would you care?”
