Here’s How To Get Companions In ‘Cyberpunk 2077’
KEY POINTS
- "Cyberpunk 2077" is a single-player game that lets players explore a huge world alone
- A new mod lets players bring some companions along
- The mod creator said V’s companions will not only go with them but will also fight enemies alongside them
CD Projekt Red’s action RPG “Cyberpunk 2077” may offer players a massive in-game world to explore and a lot of things to do, but normally, players have to do these on their own. A new mod attempts to change that by letting players bring a group of characters with them as they go around Night City.
The mod, called “Judy-River-Saul-Takemura Companion Game Save,” lets the in-game characters of the same name join V as companions as they go around Night City. This makes the game feel a lot less lonely, especially when other characters like Johnny Silverhand aren’t around.
The mod makes “Cyberpunk 2077” feel more like a BioWare game because “you’re rolling around with a full party,” Polygon noted.
The mod creator, someone who goes by the name SiJiaoCunDeDaZhuangJi on Nexus Mods, said V’s companions will not only go with them but will also fight enemies alongside them, making for the complete party experience.
Despite the apparent benefits, the mod has some caveats. The modder explained that some companions will not be able to join V if they teleport. In the modder’s own words:
“Saul will follow you even if you teleport. (i.e. you cannot get rid of him by teleport)” “ Judy, River and Takemura won't. They will stay at the very place where you use teleport station. But they won't dissappear so you can go back there and pick them up later (maybe with your car, for convenience). I personally would prefer leave them at V's apartment when i don't need their companions.”
Those who want to keep these companions around for as long as possible will have to make do with not completing a few jobs. Completing these side jobs resets the characters and stops them from joining V as a companion again.
Here are the jobs and the corresponding character that stops being a companion after the job is completed:
- “Ex-factor” (side job) – Judy
- “I fought the law” (side job) – River
- “Riders on the storm” (side job) – Saul
- “Room 303” (main job) – Takemura
That said, players will eventually need to say goodbye to Takemura since a main job will reset the character.
The modder said the mod, which is but a game save, is “just for fun.” Players need to note that they will be playing as a male V with a “somewhat Geralt-like appearance.” All of V’s skills are maxed out as well. Those who want to get the mod can do so here.
