A researcher from the University of Connecticut found that doing yoga helps in lowering blood pressure reading. Yin Wu studied the data of 3,517 participants. They were from 49 trials. According to Express' report, the participants in the said study were primarily overweight men and women. They were already middle-aged, and their common characteristics were: had bouts with high blood pressure before, and they were very close to suffering or developing the condition.

As part of the study, one group was tasked to participate in yoga activities. Their blood pressure would be taken before the sessions. After the exercise routine, their blood pressure is once more measured. On the other hand, they had a control group who did not do yoga during the study period.

It was found that those who did yoga showed a reduction in their blood pressure reading. On the other hand, those who didn’t do yoga did not show improvement in blood pressure.

The Data

As per the report, those who participated in yoga saw a 5mmHg drop in their systolic number. Not only that, but the diastolic portion also reduced by 3mmHg. Combining the two figures, you can enjoy lower blood readings every day.

One caveat though, it is highly suggested that you do yoga every day. It is the only way that you can fully benefit from the blood pressure-lowering yoga.
