Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton released a statement regarding the death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, CA.

Posted on the Clinton Foundation website, they are sending their condolences to the loss of the Los Angeles Lakers great and her daughter, as well as the other people who were killed on the accident.

“Kobe brought excitement and joy to basketball fans not just in Los Angeles, but all over the U.S. and around the world,” the statement said. Kobe has won two gold medals for the USA during the Olympics in 2008 and in 2012 that was held in Beijing and London, respectively.

In an ambush interview by TMZ, the former first lady was shocked upon knowing the untimely passing of the basketball icon. “It’s tragic. It’s beyond tragic. I just couldn’t believe it when you asked me that, I just absolutely … was stunned,” said the wife of former president Bill Clinton.

Secretary Clinton also talked about personally seeing Bryant’s advocacy to help the homeless, vulnerable young people as she was with him and wife Vanessa on the housing project that the couple and foundation took care of.

The former US senator was at the Sundance Film Festival promoting “Hillary”, a documentary by Hulu tackling about her presidential campaign in 2016 where she lost to current president Donald Trump. “Obviously we got on our phones and I’m heartbroken about this. It’s horrible,” added Clinton.

Describing the loss of the 41-year old basketball star, the 72-year old Clinton was at loss for words. “What an incredible loss, I mean, in every way” before walking away.

Kobe and Gigi were among the casualties when his helicopter crashed while on their way to Mamba Sports Academy. Other victims were identified as Orange Coast College baseball coach John Altobelli, wife Keri and daughter Alyssa, basketball coach Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester and daughter Payton, and pilot Ara Zobayan.
