  • Aaron Rodgers uncharacteristically threw for three interceptions against the Lions

The Green Bay Packers' disappointing 2022-23 NFL season further plunged into despair after a dismal loss to the hapless Detroit Lions, and Lil Wayne was quick to admonish his favorite franchise and their quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Wayne's love for the Packers goes way back and commemorated their win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV with a remix of Wiz Khalifa's star-making "Black and Yellow", his own homage to the Steelers, known as "Green and Yellow".

However, the Packers are just not looking like themselves this season.

Packers fans were looking forward to their squad being a playoff contender this season, but a disappointing offseason that saw wide receiver Davante Adams being traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, losing offensive lineman Billy Turner to the Denver Broncos and Marquez Valdes-Scantling leaving for the Kansas City Chiefs among others sank those chances.

Green Bay was unable to substantially replace any of them during the offseason and fans were almost unanimously clamoring for them to bring some talent to the roster ahead of the trade deadline.

The Packers were reportedly linked to Raiders tight end Darren Waller, Steelers receiver Chase Claypool and Carolina Panthers wideout D.J. Moore.

However, the first was deemed too valuable, the second was traded for a second-rounder from the Chicago Bears and the Panthers were unwilling to break up their young group.

Though other key pieces switched uniforms by the conclusion of the NFL trade deadline, the Packers stood pat and made no moves–much to the chagrin of Cheeseheads everywhere.

In their Week 9 loss to the Lions, the Packers' defense was unable to prevent Jared Goff from connecting with sophomore tight end Shane Zylstra for a wide-open touchdown late in the second quarter, the first score of the game.

Hope grew for the Packers in the third quarter when cornerback Jaire Alexander picked off Goff and ran it back for 29 yards, but Rodgers again threw an interception during the drive and ended the night with an uncharacteristic three picks.

The Packers would go on to score a touchdown of their own care of an over-the-shoulder catch from Allen Lazard, though Goff would later find tight end James Mitchell for the second score of the game.

Green Bay would fail to mount a comeback late in the fourth and was forced to eat another loss, their sixth of the season, as the score read 15-9 in favor of the Lions.

While Rodgers is coming off back-to-back MVP awards, his Packers have continued plunging into the murky waters with no relief in sight despite him calling them out a few weeks ago.

Winning changes everything, as the saying goes, but the Packers are not likely to do so in Week 10 when they face the 6-2 Dallas Cowboys coming off their bye week.
