In holiday spirit, Google offers $10 call credit to military families
Google is offering a $10 call credit to military families to stay in touch during the holiday season via Gmail's built-in video chat service or Google Voice.
The military personnel, who are spending the holiday season away from home as they are serving overseas, can redeem the $10 free credit either via the Google Voice service or by the video chat interface via Gmail.
The international call credit will provide families with roughly 30 minutes of call time to Afghanistan, 60 minutes to Iraq, and hundreds of minutes to many countries in Europe and around the world.
For this initiative, Google has partnered with Blue Star Families and Sesame Street, two organizations dedicated to supporting service members and their families.
To be eligible for $10 calling credits, the military family members must be members of either Blue Star Families or Sesame Street Family Connections.
Registration is free for all military families but the registration has to be completed by December 22, 2010.
“We recognize the sacrifices military family members make when loved ones serve abroad, and we’re proud to help make it a little bit easier for families to stay connected over the holidays,” said Google on its official blog.
