'Horizon Forbidden West': PlayStation Seemingly Confirms Delayed Release Of AAA PS-Exclusive Title

PlayStation may have accidentally confirmed the delayed release of the highly anticipated PlayStation exclusive title "Horizon Forbidden West."

Initially announced to release in 2021, it appears that Aloy's next adventure in "Horizon Forbidden West" would not be available until 2022. If the recent tweet from PlayStation Germany is anything to go by, it looks like the account may have confirmed what most fans already anticipated.

PlayStation Germany tweeted the list of all the games coming to Sony's gaming consoles this year. Interestingly, "Horizon Forbidden West" is not included in the rundown, which triggered speculations that a delay in the sequel's release is imminent.

There are several possibilities why the game is not on the list of upcoming titles releasing in 2021. It could be because it does not have a specific release date as of yet. Other games on the list like "Aliens: FIreteam Elite" and "Kena: Bridge of Spirits" have their release dates.

It is also possible that Sony did not include the sequel from Guerilla Games because the company has not yet revealed its release date. In July, however, a rumor surfaced online claiming "Horizon Forbidden West" has been delayed to Q1 2022.

Bloomberg confirmed this rumor but neither Guerilla Games nor Sony confirmed nor denied it. Industry insider Jason Schreier also said the same thing and tweeted, "Sony has delayed the PlayStation exclusive... to the first quarter of 2022."

Sony Interactive Entertainment Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst said on the PlayStation blog in June, "We think we are on track to release [Horizon Forbidden West] this holiday season." However, he noted, "But that isn't quite certain yet, and we're working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can."

It is worth noting that nothing is official yet about the release date of "Horizon Forbidden West." In this case, fans should temper their expectations and take the latest details as highly speculative. If it's any consolation, Aloy is the free special 5-star character in the hit gacha game "Genshin Impact" in Update 2.1.
