Horrifying Video Shows Deadly Collision Hurling Motorist Into The Air

A dashcam clip that has gone viral on social media shows two motorists on a bike heading towards Woodlands Checkpoint along Seletar Expressway (SLE) in Singapore on Monday morning. The driver slowed down in order to change lanes when he spotted a stationary car that seemed to have broken down in the middle of the first lane.

Moments after the motorist attempted to switch lanes, a motorbike is seen slipping through and crashing into the stationary vehicle while the pillion rider is thrown off into the air. No vehicle breakdown signs were placed in front of the car, however, hazard lights were seen flashing.

The rider, Danny Raj Muniappan, 24, and his pillion, Trivikram R L, 21, had just completed their shifts at Changi Airport — where they work as Certis Cisco officers (security guards) — after which the accident took place around 10.30 a.m. Monday local time (10:30 p.m. ED, Sunday) before the Lentor Avenue exit on the highway, the Strait Times reported.

Police have been investigating the horrific accident and the stationary vehicle was said to have broken down shortly before the accident.

Videos of the disastrous incident have been circulating online since Monday that show the two Malaysian officers crashing into the sedan on the highway and the pillion hurled into air off a green motorcycle. The boot of the vehicle was open and hazard lights were on.

According to the police, both the motorists were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital with severe injuries for treatment, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) also said both the men had leg injuries, according to the local news network, Coconuts in Singapore.

Danny Raj's father, Muniappan Govindaraju, spoke to the Strait Times on Wednesday at the hospital and said the two men were good friends and stayed together in a rented apartment. "When you watch videos like this online, you normally have no feelings because it's of other people. But I can't take it because it's my son," said Muniappan, who said he saw the video on Facebook.

"My son isn't the racing-type or action-type. We don't know what happened because we haven't been able to speak to him."

Muniappan said the doctors told him his son suffered a ruptured bladder, a fractured pelvic bone, and he had lost a lot of blood after the accident. Danny also broke his left leg and left arm and has been unconscious since the accident. "My son (Danny) isn't in very good condition, the doctors are doing all they can, now only God can help us," he said. Muniappan drove four hours into Singapore along with his wife and older son, soon after he got the news of the accident.

"Doctors told me that they will wait until next week to operate because Danny has some swelling and blood clots in his brain," he added.

The pillion rider, Trivikram, was said to have suffered from a fractured pelvic bone and a broken leg. He has been unconscious since the accident. Both of them in the Intensive Care Unit, the Strait Times reported.

Certis Cisco said it would do whatever it can to help the victims and their families after the accident. "Some of our staff have visited them at the hospital and will keep in close contact with them for updates on our officers' injuries," said Benny Lim, senior vice president and head of Certis Cisco aviation security.
