House of Cards
Kevin Spacey will reprise his role as President Frank Underwood in “House of Cards” Season 5. Netflix

“House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon isn’t pleased with the accusation made by United States President Donald Trump against former president Barack Obama.

Trump earlier tweeted that Obama had “wires tapped” in Trump Tower prior to the election, and he even called Obama a “sick guy” for doing so.

This allegation made Willimon fume so much that he presented a 16-tweet defense for Obama and slammed Trump in the process. He argued that Trump’s tweets are “a national security threat” for “broadcasting to foreign leaders his continuing impulsiveness, recklessness, delusion & ignorance about gov’t.”

In addition, if Trump continues sharing wrong information on social media, Willimon said he believes “enemies [will] take advantage of his flagrant shortcomings.”

After his rant, he sent a direct message to Twitter, saying that the social media giant has a responsibility to remove Trump’s account. “With your worldwide reach & impact on the media, you have a duty to steer clear of accounts facilitating nat’l security threats. @Twitter is amazing. It connects the world. That comes with its own responsibility: to do your part in protecting that world,” he wrote.

The people behind “House of Cards” seem to really dislike Trump. When author Michael Dobbs was asked whether he’d have Trump or the show’s main star Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) as the president of the United States, he said rather have the fictional character run the country. “Better the devil you have slept with,” he laughingly told The Times.

The show will return with its fifth season in May. In the upcoming installment, Spacey will reprise his role as President Frank Underwood, Robin Wright as First Lady Claire Underwood, Michael Kelly as Doug Stamper, Paul Sparks as Thomas Yates and Neve Campbell as political consultant LeAnn Harvey. Mahershala Ali, who used to play Remy Danton, will no longer be part of the series.

“House of Cards” Season 5 will premiere on Netflix on May 30.
