‘House Of Cards’ Season 5 Spoilers: EP Reveals How Frank Is Different From Trump
“House of Cards” star Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) has long been compared to President Donald Trump, but executive producer Melissa James Gibson does not think they’re similar at all.
Gibson said the show’s parallelism to real life is sometimes uncanny, but they did not create Underwood to become Trump’s fictional counterpart. “Sure, the resonance sometimes feels eerie,” she said, according to First Post. “But Trump is an outsider who’s trying to blow up the system, and Francis is the opposite.”

Another person who is not a fan of Trump is the show’s author, Michael Dobbs. When asked earlier whether he’d have Trump or Underwood as the president of the United States, he didn’t hesitate to answer that he’d rather have the fictional character run the country. “Better the devil you have slept with,” he laughingly told The Times.
A lot of fans are extremely excited about the show’s fifth season. In it, Spacey will be reprising his role as President Underwood, Robin Wright as First Lady Claire Underwood, Michael Kelly as Doug Stamper, Paul Sparks as Thomas Yates and Neve Campbell as political consultant LeAnn Harvey.
There will be new players in the series as well, with Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott booking “major roles” next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While details of their roles are still being kept a secret for now, it has already been confirmed that they will both be featured heavily in the new season.
It also seems like Kate Mara’s Zoe Barnes will be resurrected from the dead next season, since a teaser clip showed her talking on the phone while looking out the car window.
“House of Cards” Season 5 will premiere on Netflix on May 30.
