How Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher’s Daughter, Responded To ‘Incredible’ Mom’s Documentary With Grandmother Debbie Reynolds
Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, praised her mother after the documentary “Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds” debuted at Cannes earlier this year. It is slated to premiere on HBO in 2017.
“I’m always proud of my mother, she’s killing it right now. She’s incredible,” the “Scream Queens” actress said about Fisher to People Magazine in May.
It was “really trippy” to work with her mother on “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which debuted last year. “We’re watching each other. And we’re still being mother-daughter, even though it’s like, actress-actress,” she said.
“She’s awesome,” Lourd, 24, added about Fisher. “And it was even better in this one. She’s great and she looks great. She’s killing it.”
Fisher died Tuesday after she had a heart attack days earlier on a flight from London to Los Angeles. She was rushed to UCLA Medical Center by the LA Fire Department. Her eyes were closed and she had an oxygen mask on her face. She never regained consciousness. Even though she was stable over Christmas, she died two days later. She was 60 years old.
Lourd released a statement about her mother’s death through a spokesperson. “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” the statement read to People Magazine. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Fisher famously battled an addiction to drugs. In 2013, she was hospitalized for complications with bipolar disorder.
Fisher was best known for her role as Princess Leia, but she starred in a slew of other movies like “When Harry Met Sally,” “The Blues Brothers,” “Fanboys,” “Sorority Row,” “Charlie’s Angles: Full Throttle,” “The ‘Burbs” and much more.
Fisher is survived by her daughter, her brother, Todd Fisher and sisters Tricia and Joely Fisher.
