How Close Princes William, Harry Were After Princess Diana’s Death, Before Disagreement
Prince William and Prince Harry were very close growing up after they lost their mom, Princess Diana.
According to Richard Kay, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ sons had a “very special relationship” forged by their duty and loss. In fact, the Duke of Sussex and Duke of Cambridge knew each other so well that they could tell what one was thinking.
“Their uncanny ability to finish each other’s sentences, to know what the other is thinking before they have a chance to speak reveals a bond that many thought had ended with childhood,” Kay wrote.
Kay also pointed out a moment when Prince William affectionately pointed to a picture of Princess Diana and Prince Harry. The Duke of Cambridge told Meghan Markle’s husband he might like to see it because “it was a special picture” of the People’s Princess and Prince Harry and he thought that it was “quite sweet.”
Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship has grown closer over the years. When they started their charity, the two were almost always together. In this clip that features Prince Harry and Prince William’s best sibling moments, the Duke of Sussex is seen praising his older brother. It also shows how they played and teased each other.
“And rather than growing apart as they have got older, the years have brought them closer. Marriage and fatherhood has not seen William loosen ties with Harry but strengthen them,” Kay continued.
Journalists Rebecca Hyde and Angela Mollard in New Idea’s “Royals” podcast have the same opinion about the royal princes. According to them, Prince Harry was closer to Prince William than their dad, Prince Charles.
The duo also believed that if there’s someone who could approach Prince Harry about any concern regarding his romance with Markle, it would be Prince William. Unfortunately, when the duke did, it reportedly “riled” Prince Harry and it led to their falling-out.
Recent reports claim that the Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex are planning to split their shared household to ease the tension between the fab four.
A source told the Sunday Times that Prince William and Prince Harry have become “different people with different outlooks in life.” Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s sons no longer rely on each other now that they have their own families.
