How Did Gigi Hadid And Zayn Malik Meet? A Timeline Of Their Relationship

After five years of dating, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are embarking on a new step in their relationship: parenthood.

Entertainment Tonight reported that the couple is expecting their first child together and are “very excited.”

"Gigi and Zayn are expecting their first child together and the couple is very excited!" a source told the publication.

The news caps what has been a roller-coaster relationship for the couple, which has been on and off for several years.

It all started at a Victoria’s Secret fashion show back in 2015 when Malik recognized Hadid from photographs and decided to ask her out.

“She’s a very intelligent woman,” he told the Evening Standard in November 2016 about their first encounter. “She knows how to carry herself. She’s quite classy and that. She’s not, like, arrogant in any way, she’s confident. She carries it well. She’s cool.”

Some might say it was love at first sight for the pair who had their first date at Gemma, The Bowery Hotel restaurant in New York, and then began a three-year relationship.

Both the former "One Direction" singer and esteemed model had previously been dating someone else only shortly before they got together, Seventeen reported. Hadid dated Joe Jonas for about five months in 2015, while Malik dated and was engaged to “Little Mix” member Perrie Edwards before their split in August.

But in case anyone was confused about their official relationship status that year, she showed up in his music video for “Pillowtalk” that was released in January 2016. The video made it quite clear to fans that the two were an item.

However, much to fans dismay, the couple split in an amicable breakup in March 2018. It was short-lived because the next month they were spotted together and confirmed once again that they were dating. They went on to break up once more in January 2019 after spending “months apart” and then almost immediately rekindled their romance in March 2019.

Hadid threw everyone for a loop when she briefly dated “Bachelorette” star Tyler Cameron in August 2019, right before rumors began circulating once again that she and Malik were back together.

After now confirming her couple status with Malik on Feb. 14, and with a baby on the way, this might be the biggest step yet for the couple.
