How Did ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Season 6 End? [Finale Recap]

When “How to Get Away With Murder” Season 6 returns for its final six episodes, viewers will get answers about Annalise’s death, Wes’ return and more.

Viewers were left with a slew of questions following Asher’s (Matt McGorry) death, Laurel’s (Karla Souza) confession, and other shady revelations. Before tuning in to the premiere of the ABC primetime series, take a look back at how “HTGAWM” Season 6 ended.

The last time viewers saw the group, the FBI was working with an informant to link Annalise (Viola Davis), and her inner circle to several crimes, including Sam’s (Tom Verica) murder. Once the group learned someone close to them was working with authorities, they started to turn on one another.

On “How to Get Away With Murder” Season 6, episode 9, Conor (Jack Falahee), Michaela (Aja Naomi King), Oliver (Conrad Ricamora), and Asher shared theories about which person out of the Keating Four was guilty of betraying the group.

Laurel briefly shows up via video chat to let her friends know that she is ok and deny being the FBI mole. The group happily accepts her story and decides to celebrate the night before their graduation by taking shrooms.

Amid their celebration, Michaela figures out that Asher is the mole and learns he proposed to her so they wouldn’t have to testify against each other. Asher tells the group that he was forced to help the FBI to save his sister and mother from facing legal charges.

However, Oliver thinks the best way to solve their problems is by killing Asher and hits him in the head with a fire iron. Although the blow to the head knocks him out, it doesn’t kill Asher. Viewers learned that went to Bonnie’s (Liza Weil) house after Oliver’s attack, but was found dead in his apartment building following their chat.

Meanwhile, Annalise is busy tying up loose ends as she rushes to disappear before she is murdered. Unfortunately, her past indiscretions began to surface and those who once trusted her began to see her as an enemy. At one point in the episode, Nate (Billy Brown) aggressively confronts Annalise, who suspects he may kill her.

While viewers do not see their confrontation escalate, in the flash-forward, they learn that someone murdered Annalise, and Wes (Alfred Enoch) emerges from the crowd at her memorial service to share some words about the dearly departed.
