How To Get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on Samsung Nexus S
The tech world moves at lightning speed, especially the software developers' community. That's why it's no surprise that just days after the software development kit (SDK) for the latest version of Android, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, has been ported to the Samsung Nexus S 4G.
The update comes several months before the phone is expected to get an official update. Just to be clear, this is not the Nexus II, Nexus LTE or Nexus X. This port is just for the Nexus S. Also, not every feature on the phone's original operating system, Android 2.3.7, are available on the ports of Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
The port is available thanks to Beezy, a developer on Android Central. The port currently has no WiFi or Bluetooth support. The developers are rapidly making improvemens, so it may not be long before all features are available. You can download the port of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for the Nexus S by visiting the XDA Forums. The port is expected to make its way over to other Nexus phones soon because of their similarities, so don't worry if you're not a Nexus S owner.
Drew Garen has built off of the Beezy port in order to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the Nexus S 3G. He calls the mod We Scream for Ice Cream. It's the beta 11 on SDK 14. You can download the mod pack called We Scream Combo Ice Beta 12 at the developer's website.
