“How To Get Away With Murder” Season 1 episode 8 packed in the drama. Laurel (Karla Souza) met Frank’s (Charlie Weber) girlfriend. Michaela (Aja Naomi King) refused to sign a prenuptial agreement and almost slapped her fiancé’s mother. After Annalise (Viola Davis) mistakenly thought Michaela already had the trophy, Michaela went to Asher’s (Matt McGorry) house and stole the trophy. However, as usual, the most drama was related to Sam (Tom Verica). Flashbacks revealed the last days of Lila’s (Megan West) life, and Sam showed just how manipulative he really is.

“How To Get Away With Murder” picked up right where if left off last week when Annalise discovered Lila’s pregnancy. Sam promised he didn’t know she was pregnant, but Annalise feared Sam was the father. She told Wes (Alfred Enoch), and asked him not to tell Rebecca (Katie Findlay). She was afraid that Rebecca would act out if she heard that news.

Wes told Rebecca immediately. Rebecca wanted to go to the police, but Wes wanted to keep Annalise on their side. “I just need to keep an eye on her until we figure out our next step,” he said.

Rebecca went to Nate (Billy Brown) and told him that Lila was pregnant when she died. Nate told her that if an investigation were launched against Sam, then her case would be dropped. However, they would need Sam’s DNA. Nate needed her to get a strand of Sam’s hair.

She tried to go to Annalise’s house and pretended she was looking for gloves but Sam kicked her out. He didn’t want her there without his wife. She told Nate to look at Sam’s phone for evidence instead. He gave Rebecca a USB that would be able to get all of the backed up information from his phone. She just needed to get the USB to his computer.

Wes flipped when he discovered Rebecca was working with Nate. He thought Nate had to be working with Annalise. He genuinely believed they were trying to set up Rebecca, but Connor (Jack Falahee) and Laurel came over to study before they could finish their argument. Rebecca took the USB and seemingly went to follow Nate’s plan.

Wes didn’t realize that Annalise’s life was too messy to balance a marriage and an affair. The weight of not knowing if Sam killed Lila put Annalise in a bad place mentally. She nearly lost her case because she was so distracted.

“This is what I get,” Annalise said. “This is what happens when you screw somebody else’s husband. You become sad, barren. Even a dead girl is more of a woman than you.”

Sam told her that wasn’t true and he wanted to make them right again. However, it was hard to believe that when "How To Get Away With Murder" kept flashing back to Lila’s life.

The flashbacks started at the beginning of Lila and Sam’s relationship. Rebecca and Lila were doing coke and Lila revealed she was going to have sex. She told Rebecca that she was with a married man, and she wanted to break the virginity pact she made with Griffin (Lenny Platt). Later, she happily revealed to Rebecca that she lost her virginity. She told Rebecca that it was great, and then Sam sent the first naked picture. The girls laughed over it.

The mood was different in the next flashback. Lila was crying when she told Rebecca that Sam broke it off with her. “Is it sick if I just want to go over to his house and show his wife all the pictures of his junk on my phone?” she asked.

Rebecca told her that it was normal, but she probably shouldn’t do it. Lila did eventually try to see Annalise. Lila went to Annalise’s house on the night she was killed, but she only saw Bonnie (Liza Weil).

“I need to see Annalise Keating,” Lila said. “Tell her it’s about her husband.”

“I don’t know who you are, but I guarantee you’re going to regret this,” Bonnie said. She told her to go home and even threatened to call the cops.

“Fine … He can’t keep it a secret anymore,” Lila said.

In the present day, Bonnie revealed to Sam that she met Lila the night she died, and Sam told Bonnie not to tell Annalise. He touched Bonnie’s face lovingly.

“I need you now more than ever,” he said. Then Sam and Bonnie kissed.

Bonnie came to Annalise sobbing and told her everything. “I didn’t know what good it would do to tell you,” Bonnie said. “And I didn’t believe he could do such a thing, that he would hurt her. He knew she was pregnant.”

“He told you that?” Annalise asked.

“He kissed me so I would lie to you,” Bonnie explained. “He thought he was finally giving me what I wanted.”

Annalise didn’t thank her for the information or ask her for advice. Instead, she fired Bonnie and told her not to come back. When Annalise saw her husband, she told him that she demanded the court get DNA samples from all the men in Lila’s life — including her teachers.
