Annalise agreed to work for Governor Birkhead only to learn that she was set up to fail, but on “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 5, episode 7, the defense attorney will attempt to salvage her career and get revenge following Nate Sr.’s gruesome murder.

“Connor (Jack Falahee) and Oliver attempt to secure a church for their wedding to appease their moms,” the “I Got Played” synopsis teases. In the promo video for the ABC series, Connor and Oliver are asked if they have concerns about getting married.

In the previous episode, Oliver had a heart-to-heart with his mother where he confessed he was HIV positive. After he explained that he was undetected and was expected to live a long life, his mother appeared to backtrack about the previous jabs she made about their wedding and suggested the two get married in a church.

Although Connor and Oliver already found a venue for the ceremony and reception, they will entertain the idea of having their wedding in a church. However, after a tough conversation with the head of the religious institution, will the couple feel comfortable walking down the aisle in the house of God?

“Annalise (Viola Davis) and Nate (Billy Brown) continue their quest for justice in the face of endless obstacles and grave circumstances,” the synopsis for “How To Get Away With Murder” Season 5, episode 7 says. In the “I Got Played” promo video, Nate appears to tell Annalise that someone’s blood is on her hands too.

In the previous episode, Annalise accepted a job with Governor Birkhead (Laura Innes) after she agreed to pardon Nate Sr. (Glynn Turman) so he could live with his son. However, while he was being transferred to an interim mental facility, someone shot him in the head.

Nate Sr. was the face of Annalise’s class action lawsuit. Now that he is dead and she is stuck in a shady contract with Birkhead, the lawyer has found herself in a situation she may not be able to fix.

“Annalise begins to doubt the governor’s dedication to her cause,” the synopsis for the ABC drama states. In the “HTGAWM” preview, Annalise asks Tegan (Amirah Vann) for help and tells her she got played.

Annalise will suspect the murder of Nate Sr. was no coincidence and realize Birkhead may not be as passionate about class action lawsuits as she claimed to be. The attorney will look for a way out but is Tegan the answer to Annalise’s problems?

“How To Get Away With Murder” Season 5, episode 7 airs Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
