‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9 Spoilers: New Photo From Barney And Robin’s Wedding, Update On Sherri Shepherd’s Role
“How I Met Your Mother” won't stop teasing fans about its ninth and final season! Set to air a special hour-long premiere on Sept. 23, co-creator Carter Bays has taken to Twitter to give viewers another look at Barney and Robin’s wedding.
“Checking in!” Bays posted. “#HIMYM #SeasonNine.”
As fans of the CBS series know, Barney and Robin’s wedding takes place at the Farhampton Inn. Although bits and pieces of the wedding have been seen in the past, the ninth season is set to show the whole affair in an “epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever.”
Season eight ended with the crew packing up and getting ready to head over to Farhampton for the weekend. But in true “How I Met Your Mother” fashion, the journey to get to the wedding will be a major plot line.
“The Mother,” played by Cristin Milioti, was already shown waiting at the train station with her bass. And when the series returns in September, viewers will get to see Marshall heading back from Minnesota for the wedding – and it’s going to be a struggle.
We previously reported that Sherri Shepherd would be guest starring in the premiere as Camille, but in a recent press release from CBS entertainment, her character name is actually Daphne. Daphne will have the misfortune of sitting next to Marshall on his flight, and his “erratic behavior” will lead to a confrontation that gets them both escorted off the plane prior to take-off.
“We’re all extremely excited to have Sherri Shepherd joining ‘HIYM’ for an arc in season 9!” co-creator and executive producer Craig Thomas said in a statement. “She is hilarious and delightful and perfect for this part – we couldn’t be more thrilled!”
The excitement is mutual for Shepherd, who tweeted a photo last week while she was filming the premiere. “On the set of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ working w my baby Jason Segel #living a #dream,” she posted.
