“How I Met Your Mother” is officially coming to an end. After nine seasons of listening to Ted Mosby tell his children the prolonged story of how he met their mom, the beloved protagonist of the CBS hit show is just about to conclude his tale. Bittersweet, we know. While we hate to say goodbye to our favorite gang, we can’t stop biting our nails in anticipation of what will occur during the series finale on Monday, March 31, at 8 p.m. EDT.

And according to the creators of the comedy, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, episode 23 and 24 will be a total tear jerker. So, looks like fans better stock up on Kleenex now, because “Last Forever” is just a few shorts weeks away from airing.

According to the official synopsis for the special one-hour series finale, Ted will finally finish telling his kids the story of how he met their mother. But plenty more will happen. Fans will also get to see Marshall and Lily help Barney prepare his vows.

The college sweethearts aren’t afraid of getting down and mushy, which is why we could picture them stepping in to help the seemingly cold-hearted groom write down his feelings for Robin. Unlike the duo, we have no doubt the legendary groom will cook up vows to make you weep. Throughout the nine seasons of “HIMYM,” we’ve witnessed Barney’s sentimental side shine. We’ve seen him get his heart broken, we’ve seen him be sincere and we’ve watched him fall in love with Robin. We know he’ll put aside the jokes and magic to say something truly meaningful.
