Kate Middleton was able to convince Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of Prince William’s family members that she’s a “royal in the making.”

Middleton won the support of the royal family including Queen Elizabeth II’s due to her ability to handle public scrutiny with “comfort.” She was followed by the press constantly when they learned that she’s Prince William’s girlfriend, but she never made any move that embarrassed the Firm.

“I think part of the reason Prince William felt so comfortable with Kate was that she was comfortable with this role – with the media following her, with being in the public eye,” royal commentator Juliet Ridden told Nine News Australia.

“The whole Royal Family realised, ‘yes, this is a Royal in the making.”

Ridden also praised how Middleton bravely faced the photographers at the steps of the Lindo Wings like her mother-in-law Princess Diana after giving birth to her three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Unlike Middleton and Princess Diana, Meghan Markle opted to not do the same when she gave birth to her son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

“Nobody could envy her having to face the cameras within hours of birth but each time she has done it with such grace and poise we can’t help loving her for it,” she added.

Even though Middleton faced the cameras with confidence and wasn’t bothered by them, Prince William wasn’t happy about it. In 2007, Prince William was furious when he learned that 30 paparazzi gathered outside Middleton’s Chelsea flat to get pictures of her and to ask her if her royal boyfriend had already proposed to her.

Middleton was on her way to her car when the paparazzi attacked her and some lenses reportedly thrust less than a foot from her face while others blocked her car. Due to the incident, Prince William released a statement to the press asking them to stop harassing his girlfriend. Shortly after the incident, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge moved to a remote corner of Wales.

On Monday, Prince William and Middleton joined Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Harry for the state banquet that Her Majesty hosted for U.S. President Donald Trump. However, prior to that, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge raised some eyebrows when they didn’t join the welcome ceremony for the U.S. politician.
