Kate Middleton is already preparing for her future role as queen. And the Duchess of Cambridge has been employing subtle tricks throughout the past couple of months.

While speaking with Express, fashion stylist Melita Latham said that Prince William’s wife recently swapped her casual looks for more formal and conservative pieces. Overall, Middleton’s appearance has also changed.

In the past, the Duchess of Cambridge was usually photographed in figure-flattering summer dresses. She also used to show off her bare arms during her outings during the summer months.

But in recent years, she has replaced these pieces with stylish and heavier figure covering suits. She also tends to wear lace and veil even when it’s hot. According to Latham, Middleton’s style is gearing towards Queen Elizabeth’s fashion. After all, the mom of three will eventually inherit Her Majesty’s important title.

“We all follow this process as we move through the different stages of our lives, but Kate appears to have missed 20 years and moved straight to her 50 plus years,” Latham said.

Meanwhile, the stylist also said that it’s possible for Middleton to change her fashion and style simply because she’s also getting older. As people mature, it also follows that their way of dressing changes. Prince William’s wife will turn 38 in January.

“Changes in our confidence, body shape and the effects of family life, all combine to change our dress code. Consider then, all the above and add the gaze of the world’s press. This, along with motherhood and the pressure of royal duties, what a challenge, but what a woman too. Furthermore, with the expectation and sheer weight of history being documented, it’s enough to drive any woman to cover up,” she said.
