KEY POINTS

  • Kate Middleton will celebrate her 39th birthday at Anmer Hall
  • The duchess will be accompanied by her husband Prince William and three children
  • They are expected to remain socially distant from the rest of the family due to lockdown restrictions

Kate Middleton is turning 39 this Saturday. The Duchess of Cambridge will be celebrating her birthday with her family privately.

As the U.K. announces another lockdown, Kate's birthday celebrations are expected to take a hit. After the traditional Christmas celebrations at Sandringham Estate were canceled, it is highly likely that the royal's birthday celebration will also remain subdued.

The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge have returned to their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, where they spent months in isolation during the initial lockdowns. The royal couple, along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, will continue to isolate themselves together and stay socially distant from other family members due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the U.K.

Meanwhile, the family-of-five is expected to have a "fun weekend," as per Hello Magazine. In addition, members of the royal family are expected to mark the occasion with special posts on social media dedicated to the duchess.

Last year, Kensington Palace released an unseen photo of the mother-of-three wherein she was dressed more casually while posing in the grounds of Anmer Hall. Meanwhile, the royal family sent out several sweet messages commemorating the big day on their respective social media accounts.

Born as Catherine Elizabeth Middleton on Jan. 9, 1982, Kate is married to Prince William, the second-in-line of succession to the British throne. She is the eldest among three children born to Carole and Michael Middleton, founders of business Party Pieces.

Kate studied art history at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where she met Prince William. The pair started dating in 2001 and got engaged in November 2010.

On April 29, 2011, the couple tied the knot in a royal wedding at Westminster Abbey and subsequently became parents to their three children. The couple will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary this year.

In related news, the Cambridge children Prince George, 7, and Princess Charlotte, 5, will be enjoying extended Christmas holidays this year. London's Mayor Sadiq Khan announced that all the primary schools in the city will remain shut even after the holiday season due to new COVID-19 restrictions, according to People. This includes George and Charlotte's school Thomas's Battersea.

In addition, the recent lockdown might delay Prince Louis's academic career as he was speculated to join nursery school at the beginning of 2021.
