Kate Middleton reportedly has a clever trick up her sleeve when it comes to gaining access to Queen Elizabeth’s nicest and most expensive jewelry.

In fact, since she married into the royal family years before Meghan Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry, the mom of three seemingly has an upper hand with it comes to using the stunning pieces of Her Majesty. It’s very common for the Duchess of Cambridge to be photographed with her grandmother-in-law’s jewelry during formal occasions.

A source recently told Grazia how Middleton came up with a clever trick to have immediate and direct access to Prince William’s grandmother’s jewelry.

“Kate gets the pick of the jewels for big occasions and the Queen is happy to open up her jewelry box. Kate has been clever to befriend Angela Kelly, who is in charge of the Queen’s personal jewelry collection and oversees the loans… Generally, Kate is allowed to borrow whatever she fancies,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Sussex has yet to wear the Queen’s jewelry. There were claims suggesting that the monarch assured Prince William years ago that Princess Diana’s jewelry from the royal collection will not be worn by Prince Harry’s wife.

In April, royal journalist Dan Wooton said, “The Queen is in charge of the royal collection, a massive collection of all of the artifacts that the country and the Royal Family own. Included in that are some iconic prices of jewelry, many of which have been leaned to Princess Diana.”

However, Middleton’s status as the future Queen of Britain gave her access to the Queen’s jewelry. And since she’s married to Prince William, who will become King one day, the mom of three seemingly has the right to wear the Queen and Princess Diana’s beautiful pieces.

Unfortunately, the claims have not been confirmed or denied by the royals and their staff. And as such, they should be taken with a grain of salt.
