Kate Middleton’s mom helped the duchess during her split from Prince William.

Middleton’s mom Carole has been a huge help to the Duchess of Cambridge in raising her own family. Whenever the future king and queen are away, Carole and Michael usually look after their royal grandkids Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Even before Middleton married Prince William, her mother has always been there for her. In fact, according to royal commentator Ingrid Seward, Carole supported her daughter when she and Prince William broke up.

“When Kate and William briefly split, it was Carole who encouraged her daughter to put on a brave face and not let him know how much she was hurting inside,” Seward wrote in a report for The Sun.

Carole also accompanied Middleton when the duchess headed to Dublin after she parted ways with the second in line to the throne. The mother and daughter reportedly traveled with a group of friends.

During their visit to the country, Middleton and Carole met with Irish artist Gemma Billington, a family friend who scored an invite to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s royal wedding in 2011.

Middleton and her mom also visited her first exhibition at the Urban Retreat Gallery and National Gallery of Ireland. The visit was not a huge surprise as Middleton was known for her passion for art. The duchess took Art History at the University of St. Andrew where she met Prince William.

Middleton’s trip to Dublin was made just a few weeks after she and Prince William parted ways. When the media approached Middleton for a few words, she “politely declined.”

Prince William and Middleton opened up about their split during their engagement interview. According to Prince Harry’s brother, they were still too young at the time and were still figuring out what they wanted in their lives.

Meanwhile, Middleton got candid by sharing how she felt when they broke up. According to her, she was not happy, but she learned new things about herself.

“I think I at the time wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person. You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realised. Or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger,” Middleton said.
