How Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Plan To Give Archie ‘Incredible’ Childhood Memories
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor will live a privileged life filled with endless opportunities. However, his parents want to make sure he has a memorable childhood.
While Meghan’s early years consisted of a quiet life in California, Prince Harry’s childhood in the UK consisted of special moments that were ruined by the paparazzi. Now that Meghan and Prince Harry are parents, the couple believes adopting a dog from a local shelter in Windsor will enhance Archie’s childhood experience.
“Meghan really wants a dog with whom Archie can associate his childhood. She hopes they strike up an incredible bond and Archie can make plenty of memories,” a source told The Sun.
Prior to her marriage with Prince Harry, Meghan owned two dogs, Guy and Bogart. Although Meghan had to leave Bogart behind, the couple reportedly adopted a black labrador in 2018.
While Meghan is an experienced pet owner, there are some things she should consider before bringing another dog into her home. Richard Setterwell, of Rover.com, advised dog owners to take their time introducing a new pooch to their family.
“As excited as the whole family will inevitably be to meet their new furry friend, for a dog, this can be quite overwhelming. If you can, try introducing family members and any other dogs one at a time,” he explained.
The DogBuddy founder also warned owners to keep their affection for new dogs to a minimum. “Be careful with your approach – avoid going over the top with hugging or kissing them in the early days of developing a bond.”
Meghan and Prince Harry will also have to remain vigilant when they introduce the new pooch to the other animals in the house. “Keep in mind when introducing other dogs that they can become quite territorial, so keep it short and friendly, and be wary to keep all pets on a leash for their first interaction,” Setterwell said.
Meghan is expected to remain on maternity leave until the fall, which gives her time to adopt a dog and help the animal adjust to its new life in the Royal Family.
