Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made sure that Archie would have a blast when he turned 2 years old this week, a report says.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made Archie's second birthday -- his last before he becomes a big brother -- on Thursday extra special, showering their firstborn with gifts and making a card for him.

"While Harry and Meghan are raising Archie to be grounded, they go the extra mile on his birthday," an insider told Us Weekly. "They made [his] card themselves and wrote a sweet poem inside, splashed out on gifts — including outdoor toys — and have bought him the cutest birthday outfit!"

They also shared a new photo of Archie on the homepage of the website for their non-profit Archewell. The adorable black and white photo featured Archie in a jumper, jeans and trainers. In the snap, he has his back toward the camera as he looked up at the balloons above him.

Prince Harry and Markle also invited people to support vaccine equity to mark their son's second birthday and thanked those who've supported them in their causes.

"We have been deeply touched over the past two years to feel the warmth and support for our family in honor of Archie’s birthday," the couple wrote. "Many of you donate to charities on his behalf, and mark the occasion by giving back or doing an act of service—all through the goodness of your hearts. You raise funds for those who need it most, and continue to do so organically and selflessly. We remain incredibly grateful."

According to Us Weekly's insider, the Sussexes spent Archie's birthday "privately” at their home in Montecito, California. Further, Prince and Markle are reportedly already teaching Archie some important life lessons.

"They want Archie to grow up understanding the importance of giving back," the source said. "Harry and Meghan feel so blessed to have such an articulate and caring child. Archie is learning to count already and keeps saying, ‘Two!'"

Queen Elizabeth II, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Charles all posted birthday greetings for Archie on social media. However, the photo the Prince of Wales used for his birthday tribute for Archie sparked an online debate, with some accusing him of cropping out Markle from the family picture.

The snap Prince Charles shared appeared to be from Archie's christening and showed him and his son Prince Harry smiling as they gazed at his son in the Duke of Sussex's arms.
