How Melissa Joan Hart Lost 40 Pounds: I Want To Look Fantastic In My 40s
Melissa Joan Hart just lost 40 pounds and she’s ready to show off her new body. The former “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star revealed it wasn’t magic that helped her lose the pounds; instead, the actress turned to Nutrisystem to help her lose the pounds after she gave birth to her third son, Tucker, in 2012.
The mother of Mason, 8, Braydon, 5, and Tucker, 17 months, reportedly gained 60 pounds during her most recent pregnancy. But now that she’s 40 pounds lighter, she’s ready to show off her svelte frame -- and she did just that in a cobalt bathing suit.
"I was so sick of things not fitting properly,” 37-year-old told Us Weekly back in December. The starlet started Nutrisystem two months later and “lost three jean sizes.”
Hart didn’t start out with an exact goal, but with the desire to just be healthy. "I just wanted to put something on and be like, 'okay, good,'" she said. "I have been able to forgo the Spanx … and it’s been really nice."
But being healthy wasn’t Hart’s only motivation. She also wanted to look good for her husband, Mark Wilkerson. "He does it for me, that's why I have to return the favor," she told Entertainment Tonight. "He is the guy who is disciplined… His whole thing is 'stick to it, be healthy, be fit.'"
The “Clarissa Explains It All” alum also added a little exercise to her new diet regime. She said she would do spinning and go on hikes. "For me, it was important to bond with my child, as opposed to lose the weight," she told ET. "In the beginning, I felt an uncomfortable pressure that I rebelled against."
"I have to look fantastic going into my 40s," Hart said. Even though she struggled in the beginning she said she didn’t give up because she “wanted to look great.”
