How Prince Harry Was A ‘Commoner’ Before He Married Meghan Markle

Prince Harry was a commoner before he married his wife Meghan Markle.

The members of the royal family have different titles and roles. According to Natalie Keegan, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest son, Prince Louis, is a commoner.

“It sounds complicated, but in the U.K., the only people who are not commoners are the Sovereign and peers of the realm, [people with titles like] Duke, Marquess, Earl, Viscount, and Baron,” Marlene Koenig explained.

For the same reason, Prince Harry was a commoner before he married Markle. Prince Harry only became a duke after he tied the knot with the former “Suits” star.

Queen Elizabeth II bestowed Prince Harry and Markle the title Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they exchanged “I dos” in May 2018. Prior to their big day, Prince Harry was technically a commoner.

Just recently, it was learned that Prince Philip actually discouraged the Duke of Sussex from marrying Markle. The Duke of Edinburgh reportedly told Prince Harry, “One steps out with actresses, one doesn’t marry them.”

Apparently, Prince Harry didn’t listen to his grandfather. However, he didn’t take his advice against him because they still share a close bond.

In fact, Prince Philip was among the first members of the royal family to see the couple’s newborn baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The 98-year-old senior royal was also present at the first family photo featuring Prince Harry and Markle’s son. The snap was released hours after they made their photocall two days after Makle gave birth to Archie.

In the snap, Markle is looking adorably at her child while smiling. She is being surrounded by Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and her mom, Doria Ragland.

Aside from Prince Philip, Prince William reportedly warned Prince Harry about his romance with Markle. The Duke of Cambridge was concerned that their relationship had gotten too serious quickly. Unfortunately, Prince Harry was riled after hearing it from Prince William.

Prince Harry accused Prince William of trying to destroy his romance with Markle before it even started. According to Emily Andrews, Prince Harry went mental and his relationship with his older brother “has not really recovered.”
