Queen Elizabeth II’s sister paved the way for Meghan Markle and Camilla Parker Bowles’ entry in the royal family.

Princess Margaret reportedly made divorce a “commonplace” within the royal family. According to Christopher Warwick, author of “Princess Margaret – A Life of Contrasts,” the Queen’s sister paved the way for royals to marry a divorcee — something Prince Charles and Prince Harry did when they married Camilla and Markle, respectively.

“It’s because of the divorce, the knock on effect if you like, not directly,” Warwick told Express.

“But because she was the first member of the Royal Family to divorce it kind of made divorce not exactly respectable, but it helped to make it commonplace.”

He added that today, people no longer raise an eyebrow at people being divorced. He believes that Prince Charles and Prince Harry just followed Princess Margaret’s example.

“I think it’s because Princess Margaret was divorced that it did lead to Charles marrying Camilla. And it didn’t even make it easier, nobody thought anything of it that Harry should marry Meghan. She was indeed a divorcee, but all that seemed to be swept under the carpet,” he added.

Among Queen Elizabeth II’s children, only Prince Edward has a successful marriage. Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew’s first marriages all ended in a divorce.

Body language expert Judi James said that Prince Edward’s happy marriage is due to his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex. The expert said that Sophie is a successful PR with her own firm, so she integrated into the royal family in a very “unfussy way.” In addition, she is a perfect complement to the Earl of Wessex who takes himself too seriously.

Queen Elizabeth II no longer wants any divorce in the royal family. The Queen reportedly warned Prince William and Prince Harry to pick their wife very well because “enough is enough” when it comes to divorces in the royal family.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s marriages are rumored to be on the rocks. The Duke of Cambridge allegedly cheated on Middleton with Rose Hanbury. But the couple already denied the rumors and are not showing any signs of marital problems. Meanwhile, Prince Harry’s ex Chelsy Davy was reportedly back in London amid a marriage crisis with Markle.
