How ‘This Is Us’ Referenced Meghan Markle And Prince Harry’s Baby
“This Is Us” had a very serious hour on Tuesday night as the NBC drama followed Kate’s family waiting for her after she went into labor prematurely. In one of the lighter moments, the family joked about Meghan Markle’s pregnancy.
At the beginning of the “This Is Us” episode, Kevin (Justin Hartley) is worried that Kate’s (Chrissy Metz) doctor isn’t good enough. He wants her to get top-of-the-line treatment, just like the Duchess of Sussex will receive.
“I’ll tell you what, if Meghan Markle were here, right, her doctor would be out here giving us updates every two minutes,” Kevin says. “And Kate better not be back there getting anything less than Meghan Markle treatment. Whatever that is.”
Randall (Sterling K. Brown) attempts to lighten the mood by talking about the royal baby’s birth. “Baby Markle. Ya’ll know Baby Markle’s gonna pop out with full hair and makeup, right? Little crown and scepter?” he joked as he imitated a royal wave.
Clearly, Randall has not been keeping up with the latest Meghan Markle news. The parents reportedly don’t even want their child to have a title, so don’t expect to see Meghan and Prince Harry’s baby in a crown.
Surely, Meghan will receive the best care when she delivers her and Harry’s first child, but it isn’t clear where that will happen. The Duchess of Sussex has been rumored to be giving birth in several places. In November, reports claimed that she’d decided on a home birth. However, other reports claim she will go to the hospital, but even those sources aren’t clear on which hospital she’ll go to.
If Meghan and Harry are living in Frogmore Cottage when Meghan goes into labor, it would make sense for them to go to Frimley Park. The public hospital is closest to their Windsor, England, home, and Meghan is rumored to want to give birth in an NHS hospital. However, other reports suggest that the staff at the private Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital has been told not to take off in April, hinting that they might be expecting another royal birth. The Lindo Wing was where Princess Diana and Kate Middleton gave birth.
Meghan and Harry’s first child is expected to arrive in late April or early May.
“This Is Us” is not the first TV show to reference the Sussexes. The Duke and Duchess have been brought up on “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “Grown-ish” and even “Jeopardy!” recently.
